Your GENIUS controller and the GE-EC or GE-AC modules installed on your fans talk to each other using the ModBus protocol. The GE-MGCB/485 gateway is the device that makes this communication possible. It connects between the controller and the modules, and acts as the link that carries speed settings out and brings back the real performance of each fan.
A single GE-MGCB/485 gateway can connect up to 31 GE-EC or GE-AC modules to the same GENIUS controller. No matter how many fans your building has, one communication network is enough to manage them all.
Installation is done in two wiring sections.
- A first 4 conductor cable connects the GENIUS controller to the gateway, using AWG #22 wire, with a recommended maximum length of 250 meters.
- A second cable with 2 twisted pairs then connects the gateway to each GE-EC or GE-AC module, using AWG #22, #24 or #28 wire, with a recommended maximum length of 457 meters.
- Both cables should be shielded, with a drain wire, to prevent interference.
The result, a single device is enough to connect your entire network of smart fans to your GENIUS controller, with wiring that is simple to install and maintain.
