The GE-AC module lets you control each fan individually, even on an existing conventional AC motor. Connected to the GENIUS controller, it automatically adjusts each fan’s speed to the actual needs of its location while continuously monitoring operation and reporting any abnormality. Each fan can be calibrated individually to deliver uniform air flow, even when the motors or fans are of different make or ratings.

Even within the same room, conditions can vary from one fan to the next. Outside wind, differences in wall insulation or the position of the air inlets can all affect temperature. The GE-AC automatically adjusts each fan to the actual conditions at its location, delivering a more uniform temperature throughout the barn.

Each fan can be configured with its own motor curve. This makes it possible to run motors of different make or models on the same fan stage while optimizing the performance of each one.

In addition to optimizing each fan’s operation, the module monitors its start-up. If a motor fails to start when it should be running, the problem is detected immediately and an alarm is generated.

The module continuously reports operating data for each fan, including:

  • Power draw (W)
  • Motor current (A)

If communication is lost or the controller fails, the module automatically keeps the fan running in a preset backup mode, maintaining ventilation and protecting the livestock.

The GE-AC module is a GENIUS electronic controller that connects to a fan equipped with a conventional AC motor. Each fan is controlled independently, so ventilation adjusts automatically to the needs of every zone in the room. Thanks to two-way communication with the GENIUS controller, each motor’s performance data is reported in real time, providing continuous monitoring and quick detection of any fault, such as a fan that is jammed, stopped or running abnormally.

Each fan fitted with a GE-AC module follows the actual temperature in its own zone, which delivers a more uniform climate, even in sections that used to be problem areas.

The GE-AC module continuously reads each motor’s actual electrical values (current, power) and reports them to the GENIUS controller. A fan that slows down or stops performing at full capacity is detected automatically and an alarm is sent before the problem becomes costly.

Monitrol’s GE-AC module is compatible with most conventional AC motors.

If a fan is jammed, iced up or fails to start, the GE-AC module detects the fault immediately. An alarm is sent to the GENIUS controller and forwarded to the producer (for example, to their phone through FarmQuest), so they can act quickly before the problem affects barn ventilation.

Even when they are all running normally, fans of different makes or models — for example, after a motor replacement — do not necessarily move the same volume of air. The gap is often invisible to the naked eye, but it can create warmer or more humid spots in the barn. Monitrol’s GE-AC module regulates each fan’s air flow precisely, regardless of the brand (Multifan, Varifan, Vostermans), bringing the whole stage in line without having to replace the fans.

The GE-EC and GE-AC modules offer the same benefits when it comes to independent zone-by-zone ventilation and two-way communication with the GENIUS controller. Each fan is controlled individually, reports its operating status in real time and allows faults to be detected quickly.

The main difference lies in the capabilities of the motor. GENIUS EC motors have built-in smart electronics that communicate natively over Modbus and provide more information, such as RPM, motor temperature, power, current and advanced diagnostics. The platform is also scalable, so new software features can be added over time.

EC motors also offer a performance advantage: they automatically adapt their speed to maintain more consistent air flow, even when outside conditions change for example, when wind creates back pressure on the fan. The GE-AC module, by contrast, provides the information a conventional AC motor can deliver, mainly power and current, which ensures excellent operational monitoring but with less room for future expansion.

Up to 31 GE-EC or GE-AC motor modules can be connected to a single GE-MGCB/485 communication gateway. A GENIUS controller can use up to two gateways, for a total of up to 62 motor modules on one GENIUS.

Yes. To ensure reliable communication between the modules, the sensors and the GENIUS controller, you must use a communication cable that meets the following specifications:

  • 2-pair twisted cable, shielded, with a drain wire.
  • Accepted gauges: AWG 22, 24 or 28.
  • Maximum recommended length: 457 m (1,500 ft.).
